The Upper Arlington Mat Cubs Wrestling Program is a youth athletic program designed to teach kids in the first through sixth grade the basic fundamentals of the sport of wrestling.
2010 OURWAY STATE WRESTLERS
The 2011-12 Mat Cubs Director is David Tiggett, who has coached the youth wrestling program for 2 years. He is assisted by current UAHS Wrestling Coach Matt Stout who enters his 17th consecutive year of running a youth level wrestling program, and 14th year running the Upper Arlington Mat Cubs. Matt graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1990 where he was the second four-time State Qualifier in the history of the school and State Runner-Up in 1989. He went on to attend the University of Michigan where he earned three Varsity letters and was team captain.
REGISTRATION INFO WHO: Open to all Upper Arlington Youths, grades 1-6
COST: $110 per wrestler. ($185 max/family) Included in the cost is a Mat Cubs t-shirt, singlet for tournaments, team poster and participation in the Central Ohio Youth Wrestling League.
WHERE: Upper Arlington High School Wrestling Room
WHEN: Tuesday & Thursday nights beginning November 29th 2011
Grades 1-2 will practice Tuesday nights from 6:30-8 pm
Grades 3-6 will practice Thursday nights from 6:30-8 pm
Advanced Mat Cubs will also coordinate extra conditioning practices
The Program will end in early to mid-February

GENERAL INFO IMPORTANT & HELPFUL TIPS FOR MEETS:
Wrestlers should arrive to the meet site no later than 30 minutes prior to designated start time. Due to limited parking at various meet sites, arrival time will need to be adjusted. When entering the site, locate the UA table in the cafeteria or auxillary room. There is usually a large UA sign on a table where wrestlers, parents and friends can gather, drop off belongings, etc. All wrestlers should immediately go to the gym to CHECK-IN with Coach Tiggett or Coach Stout to find their mat assignment.

Competition is optional, but strongly encouraged.
Wrestlers must compete in two league meets in order to compete in the League Championship.

2011-2012 PRACTICE
PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF:
The Program will usually run until 8:00 p.m.
However, we ask that all parents arrive at 7:50 p.m.
(if possible) in the case that a session ends early.
Please pick up you child in the Wrestling Room.
All parents are welcome to stay and watch sessions.
SNOW DAYS & CANCELLATIONS
The Program WILL BE CANCELED on school Snow Days. However, the Program WILL MEET on Tuesday, January 21st despite school being cancelled.

CALENDAR 4th LEAGUE MEET: Sunday, January 29th 2012 at 1:00PM Marysville High School
All wrestlers must arrive by 12:30PM for CHECK-IN (mat placement) and warm-up.
If you have commited to wrestle but are unable to attend please contact Coach Tiggett as soon as possible so arrangements can be made regarding the bracketing system.
Wrestlers must come prepared with wrestling shoes, singlet, and Mat Cubs t-shirt.
Fingernails should be neat and trimmed.
